The first thing we do when building a new web site is answer the following questions:
Most of us want more customers but the way we use our site to get them can vary enormously. Some people can sell their products over the internet. However, if you’re a service company or sell high-ticket items the purpose of your web site may be to get meetings or even just get people to call you.
Which is the purpose of this site. We know that most people check out the web presence of a prospective web design agency in order to find out if they’re any good. You’ll be unlikely to just book someone based on site alone, but will use it as a way to choose who to get into contact with. Therefore, our goal is simply to demonstrate how good we are so you pick us as one of the agencies to call.
Different audiences have different requirements, different pressures, different goals, different things that turn them on or off. By gaining an insight into who they are, the problems they face and what they like we are able to design the site specifically to meet their needs
For example, this site is aimed at the directors of SMEs. We believe you want key information delivered to you simply and without fuss. We also believe a new web site is a significant investment, one not made lightly and that therefore, we need to demonstrate we are trustworthy, good at what we do and that we deliver.
Only once we’ve determined the purpose of the site and who it is targeted at can we start to think about design and copy. If the job of the site is to get people to call you, the look, feel and content will be very different to a site whose purpose is to sell cleaning products to the trade.
To use this site as an example again, the goal here is to get you to call us. We do so by demonstrating our expertise and our history, by providing a portfolio of work with client testimonials and talking about our approach. We hope this will create a good impression and make picking up the phone to find out more a logical and hassle-free next step.
